Our best version

As humans, we are innately designed to grow. We desire to live as our best versions. We also really want it to be easy. However, if we don’t have friction in our lives, if we are always pursuing ease and comfort, we’re not learning, we’re not growing. Our best version of ourselves requires wrestling and friction. Yep.

Each one of us comes to yoga for different reasons. We often stay for other ones. There is at least one desire yogis seem to have in common. We are all here to pursue a better version of who we are and how we show up in the world. We are open minded people who are not afraid to look at life, know grit and believe we are meant for more. We are humans who are willing. We come to our mats, because we want a shift, a new awareness to a new perspective in the life we have and in the living we desire to grow to.

We don’t really want our practice to be easy.

Not really.

We want and need to be challenged. Our best work, our best relationships happen when we have friction in them. Not all the time, and not so much that we wear down and become sick. Friction needs to be tempered. Too much and we break. Not enough and we become complacent, lazy and sluggish. It’s in the balance of breath, patience in time, showing up again and again and experiencing the refining fire of friction, that is required for our healing, our growth and our journey into our best selves.

We are competent and not afraid. We are smart and resilient. We are yogi strong and we are beautiful.

It is a deep privilege and pleasure to heal and grow alongside each one of you,

Jill
